Red Marine Algae, or Rhodophyta, has been a valued food in Asia for thousands of years due to its highly nutritious qualities. It provides 10 to 20 times the amount of minerals than plants grown on land. These sea vegetables comprise one of the oldest groups of eukaryotic algae, and also one of the largest, with about 5,0006,000 multicellular species grown mostly in shallow waters throughout the world.
